The iconic Angel of the North, in Gateshead. Want to know "How do I find the Angel of the North?" - read on!

What city is the Angel of the North in?

The Angel of the North is located in Gateshead, and not Newcastle as many believe. It sit's proudly over the A1 Motorway and was completed in 1998.

How do I find the Angel of the North?

The Angel of the North is most easily accessed by car and it's only a few minutes off the A1 Motorway as you can see:

Here you can see the Angel of the North is very close to the A1 and you can actually see it as you approach the area on the A1- quite easy to find really as long as you take the correct slip road!

From the North: Heading south on the A1M, Take the slip road marked Wrekenton and Birtley and continue to the main roundabout, then take the A167 exit signed Gateshead South. Travel a few hundred yards and the Angel site is on your left.

From the South: From the A1M take exit for the A167 (Gateshead South) about a mile past the Washington Service Station and continue until the main roundabout and take A167 turn off. Travel a few hundred yards and the Angel site is on your left.
