Helvellyn was voted the number 1 walk in Britain by ITV viewers for Julie Bradbury's 2017 show  'Britain's best walks'

1: Helvellyn walk, Lake District

Helvellyn is the 3rd highest mountain in England, but perhaps the most well-known - largely due to the iconic Striding Edge ridge route to the summit. The combination of sweeping Lake District views from the summit of Helvellyn, coupled with the most famous ridge in Britain, Striding Edge, is probably the reason why Helvellyn was voted as Britain's best walk in 2017.

2: Snowdon walk, Snowdonia

With many routes up this iconic mountain, it’s hard to know which to choose. This route heads up to the summit via Moel Eilio, Foel Gron, Foel Goch and Moel Cynghorion before heading back down the Llanberis Path.

3: Malham Cove walk, North Yorkshire

This popular route explores the dramatic landscape of Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, Janet’s Foss Waterfall and Malham Tarn - Britain’s highest lake. Travel through varied terrain and rugged landscapes and be rewarded with beautiful views. 

4: Catbells walk, Lake District

Catbells is the perfect starter hill for little legs. Standing at 451m it offers a fun climb, with a simple scramble up to the small summit – making this walk feel like a real adventure for kids.

5: Scafell Pike walk, Lake District

Scafell Pike is England’s highest mountain and part of the Three Peaks Challenge. This there and back walk takes the classic route straight up the mountain. Stop at the top to enjoy the incredible panoramic mountain views.

6: Tryfan North Ridge walk, Wales

Easily identified from miles around by its impressive fin shape, Tryfan offers an exhilarating climb. This route, which is classed as a grade one scramble, heads up the North Ridge taking in Adam and Eve and the cannon.

7: Buttermere walk, Lake District

Buttermere Valley is a beautiful area of woodland, farms, rugged fells and best of all, three stunning lakes linked together. Our walk takes you around Buttermere lake, undoubtedly one of the best lakeside walks in Britain. 

8: The Old Man of Coniston walk, Lake District

Standing at 803m high, the Old Man of Coniston towers over the village below. This walk treats you to the beauty of the Lake District, but also offers a glimpse into the area’s industrial past.

9: Embleton Bay walk, Northumberland

From Craster this route winds across Embleton Bay. The focal point of this route is the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, which prominently stand over one of the emptiest, most beautiful stretches of the Northumberland coast. 

10: Mam Tor walk, Derbyshire

Take in the breath taking scenery of the Peak District, including superb panoramas of Kinder Scout from Mam Tor – the ‘shivering mountain’ – and the beautiful Derbyshire Dales on your return via the Limestone Way.
