Newcastle is one of my favourite cities in the UK, read on to discover some of the best things to do

#1. Walk along the quayside to get the best views of Newcastle, The Sage and the Tyne Bridge:

A walk along the quayside is one of my favourite things to do in Newcastle and there are also plenty of places to grab a drink and something to eat here. This spot is my favourite view of Newcastle right on the quayside next to the Millennium Bridge and quite close to the Pitcher & Piano Pub by the River Tyne. It's got the world-famous Tyne Bridge in view too and you can walk right under that. You've also got a great view of the SAGE Gateshead - one of my favourite buildings. At night it looks even more impressive with the changing lights and different skies.

#2. Enjoy a guided tour of Victoria Tunnel that run's under Newcastle

The Victoria Tunnel is a preserved 19th-century waggonway under Newcastle, stretching from the Town Moor to the Tyne river. You'll also get to walk under Hadrian's wall and find out about World War 2 where the tunnel was used as an air raid shelter. Find out more https://www.ouseburntrust.org.uk/visit-vt

#3. Walk up Grey Street, the best looking street in Newcastle

Grey Street is an impressive street in Newcastle with stunning architecture dating from the early 1800's. The street was completed in 1837 and at the time UK Prime Minister Gladstone described it as the country's "best modern street". It's still very well preserved. You'll find lot's of bars, restaurants and arts galleries here now. Grey Street is one of the main streets in Newcastle and runs from Grey's Monument (pictured)  down to the junction with Mosley Street after which it continues as Dean Street where you can walk down to the Quayside. Whenever I go to Newcastle I'll either walk to or from the quayside down Grey Street & Dean Street.

#4. Visit the Great North Museum

Previously known as the Hancock Museum, The Great North Museum is where you cam learn about anything from polar exploration to space travel and ancient civilisations. You'll also find some excellent Natural history exhibits there as well as a full-size T-Rex skeleton. Find out more here https://greatnorthmuseum.org.uk

#5. Finally - Have a night out in Newcastle and visit one of the many superb bars, pubs & restaurants

Newcastle is renowned for it's nightlife and many bars, pubs & restaurants - so you've got to have a drink (or three) on your visit to Newcastle. Your spoilt for choice really - and there is something for everyone. More often than not we'll visit The Stack at some point when we visit Newcastle - with it's outdoor seating, street food, live music and good crack - what's not to like :-)
