Raven Crag and Benn Man walk for the best views of Thirlmere in the Lake District

The stunning view of Thirlmire with Raven Crag to the right - one of the best Lake District views and one you'll see on this short, but steep walk

Overview of this short walk to Raven Crag for epic Lake District views

Walk distance: 2.3 miles
Walk difficulty: Moderate (it's steep!)
Walk Time: 2 hours

Raven Crag walk route map:

This walk starts at the small car park (3/4 cars) at the foot of Raven Crag and goes in an anti-clockwise direction, heading first towards Benn Man and then onto Raven Crag via Castle Crag. You'll want to allow plenty of time to admire the views once at Raven Crag. View interactive map via the button below:

If you don't have a Phone Map App - I really recommend the one by Ordnance Survey. You can download route maps to your phone such as this one and the app will show you exactly where you are on the route even when you have no signal - so no more taking a wrong turn :-)

Most visitors to the area head straight to Raven Crag - but my favourite view is actually on the way up to Benn Man - where you get stunning Thirlmire views with Raven Crag in the foreground (pictured to the right of this photo) after this vantage point this walk then takes you to the top of Raven Crag
